See tomorrow's stars today
Gothia Cup is the world's largest and most international youth tournament. This year Gothia Tipselit Trophy is part of the tournament. Tomorrow's big stars are gathered in July to turn Gothenburg into a crackling festival of football. Football Talent and meetings between young people from over 60 nations is the root of this gigantic event.
For the second year a separate tournament for 17-year-olds is settled - Gothia Tipselit Trophy. Gothia Tipselit Trophy is a trilateral callaboration between the Swedish Elitfotboll Society (SEF), Svenska Spel and Gothia Cup.
- It is great to be able to offer high quality games in a very stimulating environment for our Tipselit teams, says Erik Kotschack, Svenska Spel, which this year is investing a little extra to the tournament. Gothia Tipselit Trophy has attracted 24 teams to start, 12 of them from Sweden. Last year the English side Wolverhampton won.

Annually over 1 500 teams participate in the tournament. Over the years 800 000 young people from 127 countries has played in the Gothia Cup.
- It will be very exciting to see the Aspire from Qatar, for example. They are supposed to have a very strong team. Also Belenenses from Portugal and Cantalao from Peru have very good standard, says Stefan Lundin, SEF:s sports manager responsible for the talent development project Tipselit.
He welcomes a little extra that the Swedish participation looks so strong.
- We have more teams from the Premier Division this year, so there are several highly competitive Swedish teams in the starting field. Clubs from ten countries are in Gothenburg to play Gothia Tipselit Trophy.
